Kryptk is a sonic visionary, event producer and DJ who values the political power of music. An avid lover of Black music and its many iterations, she has performed at hundreds of cultural gatherings, carefully selecting nostalgia-inducing and cutting-edge soundscapes. She has gathered an eclectic following of supporters with her passion, keen sensibilities and alluring knowledge of independent and upcoming artists.
Shaped by the rich musical legacy of her hometown Houston, Texas, the birthplace of chopped and screwed music, and heavily influenced by the cultural legacy of New Orleans bounce music, DJ Kryptk’s sets are energetic and enlightening. A longtime resident of Washington D.C., her sets embrace the city’s beloved go-go music and the endearing bass of its funk origins. Other genres seamlessly incorporated in her sets are soca, reggae, house, Baltimore and Jersey club, funk, afrobeat, and guest appearances from trap music to diversify the tempo.
An insightful creative force, she is available for event collaborations, on-air DJing, custom mixes and music curation services.

DJ Kryptk first realized her love of music when gifted mixtapes from Houston’s beloved record label, Swishahouse by a family member. Years of musical training, a love of math and an introverted disposition created the perfect storm for a lifelong interest in music. After moving to Washington D.C. to attend Howard University, she quickly found a knack for throwing fundraisers for social-justice causes, from supporting tenant unions to environmental justice campaigns. One fateful event coordinated alongside a friend landed her with a surprise of being asked to learn to DJ on the spot for the attendees. Intuitively, she won the crowd over, and the rest is musical history.
